A lightweight is someone who "barely" qualifies for surgery...bmi
of around 40...I think up to 45. My bmi was 41...I was considered a
lightweight. Hope this helps.

I was also considered a light weight. I just passed thru with a BMI of 40.
My original surgeon said he would only bypass a small amount of intestine
because of my light weight. However my original surgeon screwed my entire
surgery and I was rushed to a trauma center and ended up loosing more than
the usual amount of intestine for any bypass patient because of sepsis
(infection)setting in.
