Yes, the exact same thing is going on with me. I am 11 weeks post-op and have only lost 39 pounds. I lost 30 pounds in the first month and the other 9 since. I am so discouraged, but everyone at my support group says that it is OK to lose it slow. I have to admit, I don't feel OK about it, because I had such high hopes in taking 50 - 60 off in the first three months, now there is no chance of that happening. The only good thing that I've heard about it is that the slower you lose, the less hair you lose and the more you skin tones. I just hope that's true. Good luck, I sure hope we both start losing soon.

I had my surgery 7/16/02...so I am almost 3 months. I have lost 45 pounds so far. I have flucuations where I lose 4 pounds a week, and then I'll have a week where nothing happens for most of the week. I have a bad habit of weighing myself every day. However, if you were to average out my weight loss, I have lost about 3 pounds a week, that ain't too shabby. No other diet allows that steady of a loss besides starving. So average it out, I think you'll be quite pleased. Also, make sure you get your measurements, I know I have lost a lot of inches due to exercising. You are right, a little slower is better, your skin will have a chance to catch up with your loss. Feel free to read my profile or write me. :-)

Let's face it, some of us have slow metabolisms that got us into this predicament in the first place. The fact that we are able to lose any weight at all is an accomplishment. So when other WLS patients are telling about their loose skin and their thin hair, we can smile and say I know with our thick hair and our firm abs. Just remember Aesops fable of the turtle and the hare. We turtles will win in the end.

Oh my yes, it happened to me! I lost 27 lbs. my first month and 7 my 2nd and 9 my 3rd and 10 my 4th and 4 my 5th 7 my 6th! I was so disappointed when it slowed down so early. I wanted to lose 60 lbs. my first 3 months alone and here it took 6 months for that. Of course everyone has told me too, some people just lose slow and it's better for loose skin, etc., but still I want it off and I want it off now - ha! I'm now down 73 lbs., more than I've ever lost in my life but not quite as quick as I had planned ;) Hang in there it will come, unfortunately we all can't be fast losers it seems......

A lot of it is your 'low' BMI. You are on the low side of being MO. I was the same. I see where many lose 100 lbs. in 6 months, well I haven't lost 100 just yet and I am 11 months post-op. But thats OK, I'm AT GOAL before my 1 year anniversary and I don't have all those loose skin problems. Yippeee!! So losing slow is a good thing!

I'm exactly two months post-op and have only lost 45 lbs. I lost 30 the first month and only 15 this month. I, too, had hoped for a faster rate of loss. I think the thing that got my hopes up was reading Carnie Wilson's story. She lost 30 the first two months and then 20 the second two months (100 lbs in 4 months). I had hoped to keep up with that kind of loss. But all in all, I can't complain. My surgeon told me to expect to average 10 lbs a month from the second month on. It's just HARD to have to wait to see the results!
