Question:
What do you mean by Grade 3 or 4 Pannus?
I have seen other people refer to the size of their pannus / hanging belly as a Grade 3 Pannus. What do you mean? How do you know what grade it is? I am 5'2 & weigh 296# and am pear shaped. Has anyone else started at that size and if so how much plastic surgery did you require? I already have a belly that droops since I had my 2 kids and I am sure when I lose weight it will really droop!! I am currently waiting for approval from my insurance company (PHCS). Thanks for any info. — Kelly B. (posted on August 16, 2002)

Hiya, I was 5'2" and 298 on my surgery day. My highest weight was
322, currently I am at 165...and holding for a bit. My stomach hangs
some...not quite to my pubic area, I'm sure when I lose 25 more pounds it
will hang more. I am hoping to avoid plastic surgery, unless it is
medically necessary. I wear tight jeans, shirts with sleeves and push up
bras..they do wonders!! I will reevaluate this whole plastic surgery thing
next spring as the school year winds down. Best wishes to you (((hugs)))
and smiles =)))

I have read that a Grade 3 is where the panniculus extends to cover the
upper thigh. Grade 4 extends to cover the mid thigh. I'm looking into
plastic surgery and reading everything I can find.
