Question:
I have Cigna HMO. They are notorious for being hard to work with.
Do you think there is any chance they will approve the reconstructive surgery I so desperately need after losing 177 lbs.??? — Terissa R. (posted on April 21, 2002)

I use to have Cigna HMO. I tried to have my veins in my legs fixed after a
specialist said I was in extreme need of getting it done for circulation
reasons. That was a year ago. Now I have new insurance & I am going
through the whole process all over again starting Monday. I wouldn't go
with Cigna if I had to. All the doctors in my area dropped them & I
was stuck paying for insurance I couldn't use for several months. I wish
you all the luck. I hope it turns out better for you!

I don't know where you are located or what stipulation your plan has, but I
can tell you that Cigna has been nothing but good to me. They have been
expediant and helpful throughout my entire process. I believe that my plan
states that cosmetic surgery is covered only through medical necessity from
a birth defect or deformity due to previous surgery. I was told that my
plastic surgery should not be a problem either. Good Luck and don't give
up... just remember to be thorough when dealing with them =)
