My opinion, the place is crazy. The staff does not return calls, you wait
hours for appointments, they are running about 1 year behind so call today
and have your surgery next Feb. Do yourself a favor and look at other good
doctors. The credentials are there for the doctor but the place is a
patients nightmare.
Just my opinion.

Hi both mysrelf and Jen my wife have had surgery with Dr Schauer. Were both
UPMC insurance as my wife works at Passavant, another UPMC hospital.UPMC
insurance was great, approved in 2 weeks with no hassles. I must admit I
have had issues with the back office paperwork staff. Its been overwhelmed
by the number of new patients, and I informed dr schauer of the issues on
some of his profile here. He has recently added more staff to keep up with
demand. HE REALLY cares about his patients and I truly believe he is
working to improve the situation. I think very highly of him and if you
want the best surgeon he is it! Although the wait time is admittely 9 to 12
months. His aftercare is excellent, with the first wednesday of each month
the regular support group meeting in Oakland. Be SURE TO ATTEND! Jen had
some problems post op. Schauer ALWAYS returned calls immediately even at
off hours. When Jen got dehydrated he saw to it that Jen was admitted
directly to the hpspital for a night without the hassle of the ER. His
resident staff of surgeons and the hospital are GREAT. See my profile for
more details.
