Question:
I just had an appendectomy last week. I weighed myself, and I've
gone up five pounds! Is this normal? Do they do something during an appendectomy that would cause you to GAIN weight??? I am hoping this is just temporary. (?) — Terissa R. (posted on February 8, 2002)

Terissa, first off I am sorry about your appendectomy. That is a bummer!.
Second, don't worry about the weight. You get lots of fluids during surgery
and your body is in a state of healing. Give yourself 4-6 weeks to recover
from the surgery and for your body to get back to what it has most recently
known as "normal". Follow your doctors recommendations and
remember, water protein walk. The pounds will leave, I promise!
