Question:
I am SO sick of Lean Cuisines! Any ideas about alternate brands?
Hi, folks! I am 8.5 months post-op and down 150 lbs. (WHOOPEE) For the last several months, I have made it my habit to have a yogurt for breakfast, a Lean Cuisine and milk for lunch and fish/vegetables for supper. This has obviously been very effective in my weight loss, but I'm starting to really get sick of Lean Cuisines. They all seem to taste the same (usually some mixture of chicken and rice). Any suggestions about alternate brands? I enjoy frozen entrees (convenient, low in calories), but Lean Cuisine is getting very old. THANKS! — Terissa R. (posted on November 17, 2001)

My personal favorites are the Weight Watchers Smart Ones. I get the same
five every week and leave them in the freezer at work. I get the Turkey,
Pepperoni Pizza, Lasagna, Salsbury Steak and something Bean and Beef. They
are all about 20 grams of protein each and taste delicious!!! By the way,
great weight loss!

I love healthy choice - they have the duets - still pretty big for me but
they are yummy :)

Healthy Choice dinners are by far the best in taste IMHO! They don't have
that mushed together texture that just about every other brand has and
their variety is very good. Great job on your weight loss! :0)

At three months post-op I have found that most TV dinners have the same
ammount of calories, etc. I really enjoy the Healthy Choice Lemmon Pepper
fish, although I can't eat the rice that comes with. I also enjoy Weight
Watchers entrees. Budget Gourmet is good and even some of the Swanson's,
Stouffer's, and the more expensive brands are delicious and have decent
nutritional specs. The most important thing to remember is that just
because it says LEAN, doesn't mean it's the only one that you can eat.
Read the labels and you'[ll find your options are virtually unlimited.

Personally I can't stand the taste of any frozen meals...they all taste
funny, really bland!! My solution, I buy the Stouffers or Betty Crocker
casserole kits that you add your own chicken or pork chops...by not adding
the butter it really cuts down on the fat! I make one of these casseroles
about once a week, divide it up into about eight portions and freeze
them...now I have a frozen meal that actually tastes good!

I also like the Smart Ones. They seem to taste pretty good and are the
right size. I have also enjoyed Michelina's. They have some lite entrees
and the price is right. I don't generally go much for frozen foods but
these two brands are okay by me!

Hi I have done several of the dinners and I find that if you mix
brands....lean cuisines, smart ones, healthy choice (these are great) that
the monotony of them become less....Im sure if you mix the brands you will
like it...also Healthychoice has GREAT selections! Best Wishes....Robin
