Question:
I am considering WLS and am worried about episodes of hypoglycemia.
I am not diabetic, but have episodes of hypoglycemia on occasion when I am working hard or dont have time to eat. Will it be difficult to regulate blood sugars with limited food and caloric intake? — Brenda N. (posted on September 2, 1999)

Brenda,
I had episodes of low blood sugar prior to surgery. Most of the episodes I
could relate to my lousy eating habits and consumption of too much sugar
and carbohydrates.
I'm 8.5 months post op and rarely have any episodes now. My blood sugar
levels are much more stable because I'm eating so much more healthy diet.
I've cut out all refined sugars and most carbohydrates. I usually only eat
three meals a day and feel great. I've also found my appetite and cravings
are not triggered as much because I eat no refined sugars and keep my carb
intake low.
