Question:
i am on medicaid, i was just wondering how difficult it will be to get the surgery?

will being on medicaid mean that gastric bypass surgery ins't a reality for me? I really want to have this surgery but i am afraid that being on medicaid will make it inevidable! — nikki C. (posted on December 10, 2003)

Hey Nikki, You'll have to check with your state agency or Doc but many states do indeed pay for wls, they just have some qualifying things that will have to be done just like any other insurance. Good luck.

NYS has Blue Choice Option for people on Medicaid. Does OHIO have anything like that?

Nikki, If you will set your local link at the top of the page to Ohio and click on local it will take you to the Ohio page. Down the left side of the page click on insurers and search for Medicaid. You will be pleased to know that alot of folks there have had surgery approved and you'll be able to find out alot more info. Good luck, Pat

Whatttttttt? Hi hon, I am from New Jersey and I have medicaid. I had no problems what so ever with them. and was approved within a few days. I haven't paid out a dime. and I wasn't on a different kind of waiting list I hear some people talking about. what you can do is look it up on your cp by putting your state in and look up medicaid. if not that write or call them. that's what I did. and they answered my question in do time. good luck.
