Question:
Can I take zoloft after surgery?
I was happy to see the discusion on taking effexor post op. I have been on effexor and zoloft for 2 years for depression and am doing very well. Will I be able to con't taking my zoloft post op.? — Polly F. (posted on August 3, 2003)

I take a single dose of zoloft and I am almost 3 months out. The only
problem I feel I may have is that I am not absorbing the whole dose. I
think I am going to ask my pcp for a bit of a higher dose other wise it's
been fine.

i am 19 mos post op & have been taking zoloft since before my wls.
about 2 weeks post op i noticed i was falling back into my black hole. i
immediately saw my psych & in the course of the discussion where we
were trying to figure out why all of a sudden the zoloft was not working, i
realized i was not absorbing the full dose! i felt like a cartoon character
who gets the lit lightbulb over their head lololol. my dr doubled my dose
& within days i was feeling like i was pre-op. good luck!

Hi,
Never stopped my Zoloft, had open RNY 5/21/03. Haven't discussed the
malabsorbtion part with my Dr. yet, but I seem to be okay for now.

I took Zoloft pre-op and just continued taking it post-op too. Haven't had
any problems taking it. I just break my pill in half.
