Question:
How do you get RNY on MEDICALERT.COM
I wanted to get my medic alert bracelet from medicalert.com but can't seem to figure out how to put that I've had a gastric bypass. It isn't one of the options. For those of you who have bracelets from there could you let me know. Thanks! — Rebekah A. (posted on November 29, 2002)

Rebekah, I have a medic-alert bracelet. I had them put the following
information on the back: "Gastric Bypass. Do Not Blindly Place N/G
Tube. Use Endoscopy." If you're running across some sort of
standardized checkoff list at the beginning of their online registration
process, just skip past it if you can (or chose "other," if
that's an option) -- my recollection is that eventually, you get to the
screen where you are allowed to fill in what you want the bracelet to say,
and you can put "Gastric Bypass" down there if you want to (as
well as any other info that will fit). I hope this helps!

Another place to check out is gwensjewelry.com A friend of mine got a
really nice necklace from them and it says "Roux-en-Y Gastric
Exclusion....No NG tube without scope".

I recently ordered my medicalert necklace online and there isn't an option
to put RNY info on there online. You will have to select
"other", complete the order, and then call the 800 number they
give online to talk to an operator and tell them what the deal is. They
are familiar with RNY and what to put on the emblem. I don't know why they
don't list it as an option online, but oh well. You'll just have to do it
over the phone. The exact wording will depend on how big your emblem is,
but they can always add extra info on your file.
