Question:
How long does post op hair loss last?
Every day, my bathtub and my hairbrush have a lot of my hair in them. Plus, I'm finding it all over the house, in my clothes dryer, etc. When will the hair loss stop? — rhonda2u (posted on November 2, 2002)

My hair loss started about month 3 or 4. It has slowed down tremendously,
but it still is coming out a little and i am 6 months today...It does end!!

I think the hair loss, like everything else, depends on the person. Mine
started around the 6th month and is still going at 15 months post-op
(although it has improved greatly).

Started losing it in HUGE masses around the 3rd month and it continued to
month 7. I have (or had) enough hair for two people so thankfully it wasn't
too bad when it ended, but I did lose about 1/2 of my hair. Now I have all
these whisps. :)

Started at month 4 for me, and past month 8 now and still losing. Not as
badly, though...and I also have regrowth so it is all balancing out. Even
after four months of loss, I don't think anyone can notice. Well, maybe
during months 5 and 6 you could tell a little... :)

Started at month 3, stopped by 7 months, now at 9 months, you can see its
growing back in really well now. When it was falling out pretty bad, went
to the hairdressers and got a cute short doo. Got so many compliments,
I've kept it short!

I had post-op hair loss from right @ 4 months post op until the end of my
6th month post-op. It was terrible and I was cleaning my tub, brush and car
out weveral times a week. I diubled my multivitaimin (with doctor's
approval) and added biotin supplements and now I have all sorts of regrowth
going. Hope this helps!!...

Almost two months. Hats are fashionable in winter.
