Question:
Was your Psych eval. done in Southern Ca? If not, please help anyway!

I am looking for a fast, effiencent, friedly shrink to get my psych eval. done. I need it before I can get my date. On adverage how long did you have to wait to get an appointment? Anyone got any names for me?    — Heather H. (posted on April 1, 2002)

Call your insurance company, and ask them what Doctor's are in your area. I did this, and was able to find a shrink close to my house, and covered in my plan. My best to you on this journey...

I tried the method that the previous poster suggested, and it did not work for me. The shrinks my insurance company suggested were unfamiliar with what I needed, and were pretty unwilling to work with me. Finally, I called my doctor's office and they referred me to one who performs the psych eval for WLS all the time. It was quick and easy! Good luck to you.

I agree, you should ask your surgeon's office if there's someone they regularly send their patients to. My surgeon gives his patients a sheet with the names and numbers of all the specialists they recommend you see, and I just used the shrink on their list.

My WLS doctor's office gave me a name BUT ONLY AFTER I CALLED BACK AND ASKED. I was required to do it prior to my first appointment also. The doctor they told me about was very nice and I actually enjoyed talking to him! Call back and ask for a name.
