Question:
Evaluation needed Can you recomend a Psychitrist in Maryland?
Does anyone know of a reputable psychiatrist for the Maryland area, accepting Capitol Care through Blue Cross Blue Shield Carefirst? I one doctor I do know of (Dr. Kahn) doesn't have an appt until July, and I'm hoping to get this taken care of this month. Any suggestions? — Kimberly D. (posted on June 5, 2001)

I have a pretty good psychatrist with Sheppard Pratt at Northwestern
Hospital. I know they accept Blue Cross Blue Shield Carefirst. Her name
is Alisa Devlin and her number is 410-521-7770. When you get to the
voicemail system just select first time appointment. Some people find Dr.
Devlin a little cold but I have had a good relationship with her. We joke
around and don't take each other too seriously unless I am having problems.
If you cannot get a early appointment, ask about Dr. Devlin's walk in
clinic from 3-5pm on Thursdays. You don't have to have an appointment but
you must get there early to reserve yourself a space. If you are unable to
get Dr. Devlin, there is another doctor at the Hospital called Dr. Rhodie.
I met with him once while Dr. Devlin was out and he was very nice. I hope
this has been some help to you.

I was requested to have a eval also and I didn't know who to turn to for
it. I asked my insurance and since my employeer offers 3 free visits with
our Employee Assistance Program it was approved that I could use one of the
EAP counselors. I live in California and I don't know if that makes a
difference but you might check with your insurance.
Good luck
