Question:
Why am I so hungry??
Tomorrow I will be three weeks post-op (open RNY). I have been drinking my water and protein..It takes me about 30 minutes to eat (protein first) and I find myself HUNGRY mid morning and late afternoon. What am I doing wrong? I know it's not head hunger because head hunger NEVER made my tummy growl at me.. sometimes the hunger is so overwhelming I feel like I could throw up. I am currently eating soft foods with a little fish and chicken thrown in here and there. Any suggestions? — audra H. (posted on March 5, 2001)

I am almost 5 months post-op (Open RNY). I get hungry frequently. Some
people say they are never hungry and only eat because they know its time
to. That has not been my experience. I have to eat atleast 6 small
meals/snacks a day. I eat every couple of hours or so. Don't worry, its
not abnormal to feel hungry after surgery. If you are hungry mid-morning
and late afternoon, I would suggest you have a snack. Eat something when
you are hungry. You will find that it won't take much to satisfy you. It
works for me and I have lost over 90 lbs! Good luck!
