Question:
How would you approach to surgeons about WLS and a partial hysterectomy?
I have two doctor appointments next week. One with a Gynecologist and the other with a Bariatric Surgeon. I wanted to approach them about having my uterus removed because 3 years ago I experienced a prolapsed uterus. It has caused a lot of back pain and it has increased with weight gain. I was wondering if anyone has had their uterus removed during WLS. The Bariatric Surgeon I will use only does open surgery so I thought it might kill to birds with one stone. — Marsha N. I had a basketball size ovarian cyst and both my ovaries removed at the
same time as my duodenal switch. In fact, it was my gynecologist who
suggested that I have the WLS done the same time with removing my cyst. We
did discuss removing the uterus the same time, but the WLS surgeon thought
it might be a little much to recover from along with all the other surgery.
Hope this helps.

My surgeon, Dr. Michael Howell of Fargo, ND - Meritcare Hospital, has been
chief of surgery. He's a founding member of the Bariatric Surgeons in
America. He will perform numerous surgeries at once. He performs RNY
surgery, ties tubes, removes gall bladder and appendix, repairs incisional
hernias, does a vagotomy on all RNY patients, etc. I had 4 surgeries at
once in just under 2 hours! I had no complications and still haven't - 10
months postop and 100# lost! If you need more than one surgeon, they can
coordinate this. Best wishes.
