Question:
Is hypoglycemia considered a comorbidity or does it hinder your chances for surgery?

HYPOglycemia is probably not considered a co-morbidity, only b/c an obese
person usually has trouble allowing glucose INTO their cells via insulin.
Thus their blood sugar is increased vs. decreased. When an obese person
has trouble w/ this glucose mechanism they call it dibetes mellitus type
II; the difference between type I and II is that in I a person produces NO
insulin and in type II a person produces insulin the body cells are just
not receptive to it and therefore are considered insulin resistant. And
this is what leads to the diabetes most obese ppl have. But hypoglycemia
can be a problem after surgery, at least for me it has been. I would talk
to your surgeon and see what he says. I'm sure that it won't hinder you
from having the surgery, you will just need to make sure that you maintain
adequate blood sugar levels.
