Question:
can someone with a previous spleenectomy still qualify for the mini-gastric bypass?
I had my spllen out in 1997 due to complications with the spleenic vein. I have had no complications from the surgery and despite having hypertension and diabetees, I had a very easy time healing after my surgery. — Ginger F. (posted on November 23, 2000)

Hi Ginger - I don't see why that would be a problem. Some people end up
with a spleenectomy because of WLS. The surgeons accidently nick it, and
then it has to come out.
Good Luck, and God Bless You - This surgery has saved my life, and the side
effect, weight loss, has made my year!!!
