Are you pre or post op? I am pre. I have terrible problems from acid
indigestion, heartburn, and reflux, like many members (also called GERD),
which is what it sounds like you have. Heartburn is just that; a burning
sensation that seems to be in the area of the stomach just adjacent to he
heart. You need to bring this up with your dr because it seems like you
cannot control this with the medication you are taking. The burning is all
that stomach acid and if it gets up in the throat burns terrible(reflux)
Heck it isn't even staying down there where it belongs to work effectively.
Tests like an upper GI and possibly scoping the esophageous can be done to
determine what is causing your problems and help decide treatment. There
are prescription meds available that help considerably with the problem you
describe. Things like Prilosec. Gaviscon is a good antiacid for reflux
available over the counter, altho somewhat costly--I have found some store
brands to be OK...not Osco's though. If nothing else keep chewing Tums or
something like that to help calm that stomach down. If the problem is more
just down in the stomach or you are post op, perhaps some other members can
help you more with their experiences in that area. I hope I have helped
you with what I know about this painful experience.
