you are dehydrated. if you are not keeping liquids in you MUST contact your
doctor in case you need an IV. Dark urine is a signof dehydration as is the
strong odor. the breath maybe from ketosis. Please call your doctor and
tell them what you have posted here.

Drink more water, the bad breath is your body being in ketosis. I would
let your dr know that you are dehydrated though,,,,:)

Cark urine generally means that you're not getting in enough liquids. How
much water are you doing? It was hard at that stage, but I learned to just
keep a water bottle in my hand almost all day long to get enough in. Keep
at it.

What are you referring to as a protein drink? How are you making it up? How
much what with how much what? Do you have cramping and pain, as well, or
just a fast run down the hall? How long after drinking? Anything else
causing this, too?

I remember when I was at 2 weeks post op., my urine was dark, too, and my
breath and sweat were stinky. That is normal. It is hard at first to get in
all your liquids. I'm now 3 1/2 months post op, and I've only gradually
been able to increase my liquids over that time. Here are some things that
helped me: make your protein drinks really thin, get an ice shaver and some
sugar-free syrups, get some sugar-free popsicles, drink your liquids
through a straw(I got more down that way, and less air in my tummy),
keep a few of those platic 1 oz. cups that they gave you in the hospital,
and sip out of those every little while. It's about constancy, really. And
I would strongly suggest that you let your doctor know, just so he can make
sure that you are not suffering from dehydration.

Well, let me tell you what happened to me and maybe it will help. I was
drinking just fine at 2-3 weeks, but from the 8th-16th day I had a LOT of
loose stools. It wasn't dumping, but was diarrhea. In one day I had drank
77 ozs., but had 13 large loose stools. I had to go to the hospital to get
2 liters of fluid. My suggestion is that you don't let it go too long, but
remeber that you will feel dry at times and can't seem to get enough fluids
in. Drink small amounts and often. Sip all day long. Sip Sip Sip..just
don't try to down a glass in a couple of swallows. haha..Hope this helped
some. You're not alone..debbie
