Question:
How many protein shakes do you have in a regular day?

My weight loss had stalled big time so I did away with my protein shake
(was only doing 1 to begin with) and my weight loss has picked up again.
So..in answer to your question - I don't do any - I get all 65+ grams of
protein daily from food. If I'm meeting my protein goals, I don't see the
need for the extra calories from the protein.

I'm almost 13 months out and still do 2 a day. Shawna G - 445/225/180

At 3 years post-op, I get my protein from food (no shakes). The exception
is if I'm trying to kick the carbs, then I use them to detox.

I do one in the morning to start my day and one as my nightime snack. I
LOVE my shakes! I look forward to having them everyday, and they are
healthy for me too. Kelly*

I usually have one shake on the way to the gym, and finish it after my
workout. I don't do well with solid foods in the morning or before noon.
Sometimes I will have a small homemade shake as a late night treat.
Initially, it was 2 a day, not it is usually one a day, for 4-5 days of the
week. If I find myself yearning for a shake, but still not 'hungry', I get
a smoothie, sugar free, with added protein powder. So far, so good!

Let's define protein shake first. When *I* say it, I mean a whey protein
powder made up with water. That said, I am very, very distal and my doc
REQUIRES several per day for life. I personally do 6 drinks (180g) minimum,
more if I am high stress (they take the place of the cigs I gave up 16 yrs
ago). My protein levels are not all that high, and at almost 10 yrs out,
they help me control my appetite, volume and cravings. I hover over my labs
and want to see certain levels, and I WANT that control. I think I look at
things a lil differently from this perspective. I don't particularly care
for meat, it is useless to me as a protein source and I don't want to be
force fed ANYTHING. I enjoy my protein drinks and, as I said, they fill
several needs for me besides meeting the basic protein requirement.

I do not drink protien shakes, I never have. I have no problem with
meat,so that is where the majority of my protien comes from. I have a
limit to the amount of calories that I can have each day or I will gain. I
would much rather eat them than drink them, I stay full longer. I have no
problem getting over 65 grams per day.

I usually do 1-2, first thing in the morning and last thing at night. On
days that I work out, I will do one more.

As a distal, my surgeon requires me to drink 4-5 (120-150 grams) of protein
EVERY day for the rest of my life. Knowing this is something I need to be
healthy, it is what I do!
