Jello is not a liquid. Clear liquids is gatorade, powerade,
propel, juices, broth, koolaide, crystal lite etc. Liquid includes creamed
soups, such as tomato, that was wk 2 for me. Good Luck tomorrow, my
prayers will be with you.

S/F jello is OK as it IS considered a liquid.

My surgeon considered sugar free jello a clear liquid. In fact it was one
of the things listed for the day before surgery when I was on clear
liquids. Other things that I had on clear liquids were apple juice,
cranberry juice, sf popsicles and broth. I went to full luquids when I
left the hospital and that included V8 Juice, strained soups, jello,
popsicles, Crystal Light, decaf tea, etc. My surgeon said NO cream soups
until 4 weeks out.

Tomato juice is a cloudy liquid. Not to be confused with a clear liquid.
You can have the sf popsicles, jello and all of the chicken broth you want.
Not a lot to choose from. It'll be all over soon

Clear liquid diet is something you came see through .Jello is considered
liquid because it will melt. My Dr.did not want me taking anything with
red coloring in it for about 5 days after surgery to make sure there was no
bleeding. Tomato soup and tomato juice are no no. Also I was instructed
by a dietitian to dilute my juices 50-50 with water for three weeks.
Jello, broth ,juices, sugar free Popsicles, and frozen 100 percent juice
pops are good.

Well first of all, if you are not sure what you can have contact the
doctor's office. There is a difference clear liquid and full liquid diets.
Full liquid diets are any kind of soups like tomato, creamed soups with out
chunks of stuff in them and all of the clear liquids. You can probably even
include in your clear liquid diet the beef broth as well, make your own
vegetable broth by boiling some veggies and then drink the broth. But if
unsure what you can have check with the doctors office. The stuff listed by
the previous posters are all of the things that you will also be able to
have. My favorite thing to have after I had surgery was the fruit juice
flavored popsicles...those are really YUMMY!!!

Definitely call your surgeon's office to clarify what they will allow you
to eat. My surgeon allows SF jello for the pre-op liquids, broth (chicken
only), gatorade (clear version), SF popsicles, water, propel water.
Nothing with diary which would include tomato soup. Some surgeons asked
that their patients eat/drink nothing that is red ... others don't care.
Definitely check with our doctor.

A liquid is anything which is liquid at room temperature. This includes
jello, sf popsicles, etc. A clear liquid is anything we can see
through....jello, most fruit juices, water, sf popsicles, broths--this type
of thing. (Coffee and tea are considered clear liquids..watch the caffine
contents on these things.) <br>
Have your surgeon clarify what he wants you to be on. Every surgeon has
his own set of rules for his own reasons--listen to YOUR doc and dietician.
My doctor and dietician told us to dilute fruit juices (50/50) with water
as the acid may be too strong for our healing pouches. Good luck to you!

I don't care much for plain old broth so strained the noodles out of
chicken noodle soup for the 2 days before surgery that I was on clear
liquids. Much tastier & the dog loved those noodles!
