Question:
What are you eating at 9 months? Have your weight just stop?
Its been 9 months since my surgery. I am doing very well but the last 2 months my weight have stayed the same. I feel so good sometimes it hard to remmber that I had this surgery if it wasn't for eating smaller meals. Why am I staying the same with my weigth and should I go back to just my pr. shakes? — Mary L. I'm also 9 mos. out. Although I can't eat just about anything I have been
holding at 180 lbs. for three weeks. Just this morning the demon scale
moved to 178. Yipee! I'm thrilled to be in the 170s. I've been told to
drink, drink, drink the water and push the protein and of course watch the
carbs and exercise. All easier said than done some days. You can do it
and you've come a long way. We lose at our own pace, when our body is
ready, not a day sooner no matter how hard we try. I had a real problem
comparing my weight loss with others who were about the same weight, height
and had the same surgery month. No more. I finally realized I am my own
person losing at my own speed. You're doing great. Wishing you much more
success as you travel our journey.

It sounds like a good old-fashioned plateau to me. Sometimes these break
on their own as your body finishes adjusting. Other times they need a
little kick-start. First look at if you are eating enough protein,
limiting refined carbohydrates, getting in at least 64 ounces of
nonsugared, noncaffeinated, noncarbonated liquid a day, and exercising the
same as you were three months ago. If any of these are out of line, get
back to where you should be. That might be enough to get you losing again.
If not, then severly cut back on carbs, up protein (shakes or food,
doesn't matter), up the water and up the exercise.

I also went through a huge plateau at about 9 months out. I did start
losing again, but its a lot slower. I am 11 months out now and have lost
143lbs and currently weigh 135 wearing size 6. You'll get through it, just
remember to eat wise and exercise.

Hi, I was 9 months last week and like the others have experienced changes
in weight loss the past few months. It still moves but much more in it's
own time. I do find though that if I make sure I am pushing lots of water
and trading some carbs for protin that will give it moving again. I've
been doing a little grazing here and there, but no too bad, but that will
stop my losing dead in it's tracks also, or even cause a 1b or 2 to find
me. But then I get back on track and it goes away. I do find it
reassuring that the tool does work and continues to work if I chose to use
it.

I have intentionally not gone to exercising every day as I became
very exercise obsessed when I lost a lot of weight before. I got to the
point it was not something I could do for the rest of my life. Balance in
everything is important for me to be successful long term.

If you do not want to do protein shakes the rest of your life,
then I would not go back to them. I'd find away to increase protein with
food. It can be done. I've been on a total food plan since 7 days PO and
never used a protien drink. This was my surgeon's plan.

I started at 442 and am down to 253 for a loss of 189 lbs. I
still have 53 lbs to goal but know I will make it in due time. As much as
it's been a little disappointing to see it slow down, I think it's
actually a good transition to maintenance. The PS surgeon figures I have
around 15 lbs of skin to remove, so ideally I get to goal and have surgery
and that will give me a buffer zone to work within. We will all get there.
We've come amazingly far in 9 months and things are just going to continue
to get better and better, if that's even possible.

I will hit the 9 month mark next week. I am pretty much at goal, and will
most likely lose 3-5 pounds more, and that's it. This is a guess. I am
planning a TT next August. I can eat just about anything, don't dump and
sometimes I forget and if I am eating at a leisurely pace can consume more
than I think I should be able to. The things that still give me difficulty
at times are white meat chicken and broiled hamburger. Also, sometimes
steak is tough, too. I think it's texture based rather than a chemical
thing. My loss has slowed down, although I have lost 5-6 pounds this
month. I would like to be able to hold at this weight and lose anything
remaining with my TT.
