Question:
All post-ops- hope this isn't a too silly question about eyelashes

I know there are much more serious issues, but.... do you lose eyelashes after surgery like you lose hair? It's the ONE thing I do have - long, thick eyelashes. Will I have thinner lashes after wls?    — Carly H. (posted on October 7, 2003)

My hair fell out, but my eyelashes didn't :)

I've noticed no lose of body or facial hair postop (14 months out).

I noticed my few facial hairs did not grow out as fast. But I did not have a eyelash loss.

Ditto, no perceptible eyelash loss here either, but let me just add that, even if you lose hair -- or eyelashes -- it grows back. This definitely isn't a silly question, but it is fortunately one of those things you can live with concerning WLS (even then, it's only for a very short time, and usually nobody but the person who's losing hair -- and maybe their hairdresser -- notices the temporary hair loss anyway).

Well, sorry to be the one to burst your bubble but my eyelashes all fell out. The doctor said he had never seen this happen before. Don't worry though, they all grew back in a month or so. My head hair is still thin and I am 15 months post op. But, my eyelashes are great! :)
