I am a pear shape. I've always had a bob (big ol butt). I've lost 132
pounds in a year and yes, my bob is practically gone. The only complaint,
is all the sagging. I jokingly told my husband that my butt is now on my
legs. But, I still look 100% better. --Shelly

I'm not black, but the women in my family have "Child bearing
hips" I have lost over 100 lbs and my butt is smaller but I laugh and
say I have a "J-Lo" butt! It looks good on her and she's skinny!

I have always been bottom heavy, and white. Every time I have lost the butt
was the last to go. This time is no exception. I am in a 14 jeans and some
12 pants but still have large saddlebags on my hips. PS wants $5500 to take
them off so I will have to buy a girdle until I can afford it. I was 64
inches in that area and am now 43.

Yep. I have the big ol butt. Genetic I believe. I call my body a pear
shape my husband says its an hour glass. I am loosing all over but the
butt is going nowhere, just smaller of course. I actually like it and so
does my hubby, thats all that matters. My hubby is a workout fanatic,
after surgery he started me weight training. I do squats at the gym which
has lifted and toned my butt making it more shapely.

I'm white and was pear-shaped from puberty on. Very bottom-heavy: butt,
hips, thunder thighs, etc. I kept that basic shape throughout my weight
loss until the last 20 pounds, which I swear ALL came from my rear end. Now
(after breast lift w/ impants) I am actually smaller on the bottom that on
the top. It is VERY strange, but I am getting used to it. I wear a 6 or 8
blouse and a 4 or 6 skirt or pants. Amazing! hugs, Ann RNY 9/10/99

Ruschell, I have been dying to ask this question but I figured everyone
would think I am nuts. I have lost 98 pounds in six months but only 1/2 an
inch from my rear end. I told the owner of Curves when she measured me
that if I kept going like this I wasn't going to be a pear shape any
more...I would end up being a TRIANGLE. I have lost several cup sizes in
my bras and lost in my waist, arms, wrist, ankles, thighs...but the bootie
won't budge. You are not alone my sister. I have noticed though that I
know longer have a shelf on my butt. You know where you can sit things and
they wouldn't fall off. (no kidding) There is now a slope that I think is
more attractive. My rear end is huge and I had really hoped it would be
the first thing to go. You wouldn't believe the teasing and ridicule I
have put up with because of it. I have gone from size 34/36 everywhere to
22/24 in tops and 32 in pants. I suppose that is some progress. I would
love to know if any out there has great exercises for the butt. I am doing
Curves four times a week and water aerobics three times a week....surely
there is more that I can do to get some of this "BOB" to go and
have a more normal looking figure. My personal weight goal is 30 pounds
above my doctor's because I want to have curves. I want to be an
attractive African American woman and not feel like a freak with this
monster bootie. Let me know if you find out anything positive for losing
weight from the hip area. Thanks for your great and timely question. Ann

Ann B. Squats done with weights are quite known for glutes ( the Booty) I
tell you my husband introduced me to this exercise machine inthe gym and it
has made a significatnt change in my bottom. I cant remeber the actual
name of the machine, but if you go the the gym they will know what you are
tlaking about. I go to curves and Golds gym. Curves has a machine for
squats, but at curves I couldnt stay on it long enough to get the benefit
due to the 30 second change of machines,so I joined Golds too. What has
worked for me too is the elliptical machine with the tension set at the
glutes, it works.

I have a friend you had the surgery about six months ago. She's white, but
was extremely bottom-heavy. She now looks totally normal. Exercise,
exercise, exercise! Good luck!

Hi sll. I am another big hip/butt black women. I had my surgery 6 months
ago. Lost 92 pounds. Size 18 top, size 22 bottom. I starterd out as a 32
all over, so alot of progress, but I wish my bottom would catch up with my
top.
If anyone finds a solution, please enlighten me.
