Question:
Doctor does not want to do surgery because of polyps
I had a EGD scope today and now the doctor sounds like he does not want to do surgery because of the polyps. Does anyone else have this problem? — Barbara Z. (posted on August 28, 2003)

Find a surgeon who isn't a wimp!!
<p>Just call me polyp queen. My surgeon remove 15 gastric polyps 2
weeks before my WLS. I had 5 removed about 21 months earlier, so we knew I
had the condition and he wanted to be sure that any new ones were gone
before the WLS. During my WLS he put some clips in my old stomach wall
that can be found easily with a fluroscope and then dilated and a scope
inserted to check for and remove polyps in the future. I think these are
the same clips they use for a g-tube. The future scoping is just an
outpatient procedure that will require a little surface numbing and that's
all. Tell your surgeon to call mine and find out how to do it. His name
is Raymond Georgen of Surgical Associates of the Fox Valley in Neenah WI.
The number is 920-725-4527. Please do not let any surgeon tell you that
you cannot have WLS because of gastric polyps. Even people with stomach
ulcers can have WLS. Good luck and feel free to contact me directly if you
have any questions.
