Question:
Did anyone have a problem with blurry vision and Obesity?
I am having blurred vision and I don't know why. I went to the eye doctor, but they can't find any reason for it?? Is it, by chance, due to my morbid obesity?? — Mary Lou E. (posted on May 12, 2003)

Have you been checked for diabetes? That happened to me and I was
diagnosed with Type II diabetes. It has now completely gone after surgery.

I am 3 months pre-op and I am a type II diabetic and I have high blood
pressure. The answer to your question could be yes or no. The morbid
obesity could be making you a type II diabetic, so that might be causing
your blurred vision. Have your A1C blood work done, that will tell you if
you are diabetic, and I do not want to scare you, but if your blurred
vision is due to being diabetic with uncontrol blood sugars, it can cause
blindness. Also, if my blood pressure is not in control it can cause
blurred vision. A eye doctor is not who you need to see, you need to have
your pcp or a Endrocologist check you for diabetes. Diabetics can have the
eye doctor check you for glocoma.

I work for an optometrist who is reading with me the questions. IF you are
POST OP you should be checked with a visual fields test by an eye Dr.
There is a possibility of optic nerve atrophy secondary to anemia caused by
large section of small intestine resection with B12 Deficiency... You
should have your B12 and Iron checked. Hope this helps some....

No, I am a PRE-OP fighting the Insurance for Approval.
I usually have low iron - maybe I'll go to my PCP and get new bloodwork
done.
Thanks
