I am 66 years old and medicare paid for all my expenses plus I have a
supplemental coverage. If it is medically necessary they will approve.
The biggest problem is finding a surgeon that accepts medcare.

Necay, Medicare and Medicaid do cover WLS if it is medically necessary. I
would suggest finding out what surgeons are available in your area and do
research on them to find out which one you want to go with. Then I would
call that surgeon's office and ask whether Medicare/Medicaid is accepted.
If its not, then go to the next surgeon on your list. Once you find
someone who will, find out what they require you to do before scheduling
for your first consult. If you have a primary care doc that you have been
seeing for a while, you could also ask him/her for a referrel.
Medicare/Medicaid is my insurance and I made my first consult appointment
with the surgeon first, then I told my PCP. I found out what paperwork I
had to get done, and took it all in to the surgeon at my first appointment.
His office lets me know what I need to do next. Every state is different
in regards to Medicaid coverage, but usually if Medicare is going to pay,
Medicaid has to pay also. Good luck in finding what you need. :)
