I am 9 wks post op and one of the things I find my weight doing is
"pausing" every 7 days or so and "catching up on
itself." I lose weight for a week or so and then my body just stops
for a few days, once as even long as a week. I have even gained a pound
back only to lose it the next day. The hard part is being patient while
your body adjusts. I thought I would only have plateaus only after
reaching a significant weight loss, but my body has other plans. I have to
just accept that my body will lose at its own pace and to stick to my
current diet and most importantly, not get discouraged. It will happen.
Good luck and enjoy the journey.

Doesnt sound like your doing anything 'wrong'... My only suggestion is
"DITCH" the scales! Why bother? You'll be going to the doctors
for a check up... only weigh THEN. That way you dont obsess about weight;
get 'free' of what alot of people have with the scales its up im
'depressed' its down im happy... dont be that slave! Just trash them.
Keep your food diary and diary on your water/excerise. THEN, if you gain
when you go to the doctors / or dont loose; you can go over the diary and
see where there may be a problem. Until ENJOY your new found enery..
etc...

If you check the library and/or message board, you will find the question
of fresh post-op plateaus comes up at least three times a week here
(probably more). :~) You will probably not lose weight on a regular
schedule. The body will have plateaus. Check out "plateau" in
the library, relax, and let yourself heal -- you will be okay!

I had the same situation. I lost 16 lounds the first week and then didn't
lose for about a week. I figured that it was because I had spent alot of
time at that weight on the way up. I had heard that your body finds a
weight that it remembers and gets comfortable. But after about a week it
passed and I started losing again. Don't worry. Your doing fine.

I would also suggest you ditch the scales. I am a slow loser and a long
plateau-er. I am 14 weeks out and find that the only way to have sanity to
is not weigh myself. I was weighing once a week but even that got
depressing. Now I only weigh at my dr's office. I also take measurements
once a month and that is a big help. If you can get in all your water at
this stage and are walking you are ahead of the game. Many postops stuggle
with water and energy issues so it sounds like you are doing better than
most. Hang in there and get rid of the scale. You'll be much happier.

I know how you feel! I'm 2 weeks post op as of yesterday and I lost about
16 pounds during that first week and not another single pound since! I
actually gained about a pound. (Making the total lost around 16). It is
discouraging because, like you, I'm walking and doing my water and protein
and all. On the brighter side, we wouldn't have lost this much in 2 weeks
before - right! I think that no matter what, eventually our bodies will
have to lose so we've just got to believe in it and hang in there! I'm
like the previous poster and have spent a lot of time at this weight at one
time. So, it will be very exciting to break this plateau. Good luck to
you! I know we can do it!

Throw away the scale! Weigh in at the Doctor's office. (Just a
suggestion...from my eating disorder therapist!) Good luck. 4 weeks
post-op

Don't be discouraged! Best advise I received before my suregery was don't
get on those scales everyday. I found out how true those words are!
Everyone's body loses weight differently...and you don't lose it every day,
or even every week, either. As long as you are NOT starving yourself...you
need to eat...you're body will take care of the weight loss. The pounds
will come off. Try to remember that this is a journey, and when you look
back down the road a few months from now, you'll remember all the
questions, thoughts, experiences you've gone through, and how much you've
learned. You'll see that what you're going through is one of many things
you'll wonder about! Best of luck on your journey.
