Question:
15 Months Post Op, Difficulty Emptying My Bladder. Anyone Else?
I am 15 months post-op, down 115+ pounds and it seems to be getting harder and harder to empty my bladder. I noticed that if I pull up on my "overhang" for a stomach, it flows just fine. I am now considering a tummy tuck and wondered if this may be a reason that it would be considered "medically necessary". Anyone else having the same problem? Please email me at [email protected] Thanks! -Amy — Amy L. (posted on March 14, 2003)

Lordy I'm glad to know I'm not the only one! I'm 8 months out and down 130
pounds and for the last month or more I've had this problem. I also find I
have to go a lot at night as the panni presses down on this poor bladder
that never fully gets empty to begin with. Can't wait until I get it (the
hanging tummy) removed!

Hi Amy- I am still pre-op but have that problem due to my big belly with
overhang. I believe it hangs even worse due to a c section 11 years ago.
Another method that might help you to empty completely is when you think
you're done going, bend over forward while still seated on the toilet seat.
I do this trick, especially at night when I'm tired and don't want to keep
making trips to the bathroom. Your letter gave me an inspiration- Since I
am having this trouble pre-op, I am going to ask my PCP if that can be
another medically necessary reason for me to have WLS. Good Luck!
