Question:
How long did it take to reach goal?
I am 5"7 and started at 299lbs, I would like to know how it took someone with similar stats to reach goal and what that goal was. Thanks in advace for your response. Kim — Kimberly H. (posted on December 11, 2002)

Kim - I am 5'6" and was 287 to start. I am at 18 months and am down
to 174. My personal goal is 160. I would have made it months ago, but I
have strayed back to SOME fats and sugars, etc. and have not exercised the
way I should have. Now, I have re-dedicated myself to getting on program
and have lost 5 or 6 pounds in the last month. I am not a "poster
child," however, I think my results are typical of many people who
have this surgery; but maybe us "less disciplined" post less
here, too???? Anyway, all that said, I LOVE my life and am soooo grateful
to be a size 14 vs a size 26. Thanking GOD and this site for saving my
life. Bobbi Lee

I am 5'8" with a start out of 268 pounds. I reached goal in 5 months.
Went from a size 24 to a 4/6. My goal was 170 I am now 159 at 7 months
post op. It is strange in high school I weighed in the 160's and wore an
11. I have heard a lot of people say the same that they seem to weigh more
than it looks.

5 11 313 pre op weight. I was a fast looser. July 23rd 2001 313 pounds. End
of january just 6 months, 192:) Surgeon said I was at goal and
congragulated me saying that was about the fastest he had ever seen. Well I
dropped slowly and bottomed at 179 pounds. I float today in the mid 180s
range. Thats fine I feel great. Thisfast loss irritates my wife Jen. It
took her nearly a year to loose that 100 pounds and she still isnt near
goal. Being male was a real bonus for me. Men typically loose FAST:) Loss
rate is helped by LOTS of exercise. I did some volunteer house gutting for
awhile that really helped. See my profile its in there.

Hi Kim - we were practically twins :) I am 5'7-1/2" and started at
298lbs. I am now just over 5 months out and have lost 96 pounds. I've said
my goal weight is 170 pounds pre-tummy tuck. Hopefully after the tummy tuck
I'll be about 155-160. I do have quite a bit of excess skin there, as well
as the saggy thighs and bat wings on the arms. But it is SOOOOOo worth it!
My health has improved dramatically. Good Luck to you! - Anna LAP RNY

Hi Kim,
I am 5'61/2, started at 289, and am now at 145. It has been 14 mos for me.
My goal was 150, but have lost 5 more pounds, I do not want to lose
anymore. I have been this same weight for 3 mos, but have had to increase
my intake to stabilize at this weight. Keep in mind everyone loses at their
own pace, good luck.

Hi! I'm 5'6.5" and started out at 304.5. At 16 months out I'm 165
and a size 10 and have been here for at least a month. Size 10 was my
goal, but I just found out I'm approved for a panniculectomy in January so
maybe I'll be an 8 :) My surgeons goal for me was 155.

I was 278, 5' 8", and my goal is to be a normal BMI. I'm 10 1/2
months out and -106 pounds. So, I'm only 9 pounds from my first goal. I
expect to reach it before my 1 year anniversary. And I'm thrilled!
