Question:
Does anyone still have a healthy gallbladder after 1 yr post-op
and how did you manage to keep it healthy? My doctor said he had absolutely no reason to remove my gallbladder at time of surgery, it was in perfect condition. Thanks in advance for your response. — Kimberly H. (posted on November 12, 2002)

I doubt it will be healthy at a year post op, but who knows. My gallbladder
was healthy and my surgeon would'nt remove mine. It had to come out at 10
months post op.

4-12-01 down 148 pds and still the proud owner of my gall bladder I have no
clue why I still have mine and other people have lost theirs. I started out
at 329 pds and my heaviest was 346 pounds. I am also 45 years old. I don't
know if there is a good answer my surgeon did not prescribe any antigal
whereas my girlfriends surgeon did and she still lost her gallbladder. Good
luck

Yup, over 3 years out, still have a healthy gallbladder...not a stone in
sight. Pooh! I was hoping I could get at least a part of my tummy tuck
paid for. :(

Another one with a healthy gallbladder. I also have no idea why...maybe
because I was considered a slower looser? Don't know. -Kim open RNY 7/17/01

100% healthy gall bladder at 19 months out. No stones, nothing. Why? No
idea, except it was healthy before surgery, my doctor left it in, and it
never got "sick" with all the weight loss. Guess I was just a
lucky one.

18 months post-op Open RNY and my gall bladder is A-OK! Was fine going into
surgery and my Dr left it alone. No problems whatsoever.
