I came here first, researched EVERYTHING, talked to my husband. Then my
surgeon, and once I had every "duck" in a row and could answer
every question my family could throw at me I told them.(they can be a
little negative). Once I answered all of their questions and they realized
I really knew what I was talking about and really wanted this, they were
COMPLETELY behind my decision and I have had nothing but their support.
Good luck to you and I hope your decision is an easy one!!!

It depends. If you have an insurance that requires a referral to a
specialist-then I would say to start with your family doctor. If not, I
would go directly to the surgeon. Anyway about it, I would still call the
surgeons office for information and paperwork that needs to be fill out or
what records are required. It is also a good idea to keep your family doctor
informed of what you are planning to do-if you do not need a referral.Good
Luck

I went to the doctor first. I wanted to be sure that I was a good
candidate and had a good chance of being approved before I started talking
(persuading) my husband and other family members. I also did a ton of
research here to educate myself fully before I even talked to a surgeon.
As it turned out, Iwas a good candidate, hubby was skeptical but
supportive, and I did not tell my parents until I was 3 months post-op and
they could see the results (they also live out of town so it was easier).
