Hi. I had an open rny on 8/14/02 and I find that I have the same reaction
after eating pretty much anything. I also wondered if it was
"dumping". I start feeling very hot (always) and sometimes I feel
sleepy. I hope someone can fill us in on this weird occurance. Thanks for
asking the question!

What you are describing sounds very much like dumping. At least I have the
same symptoms when I dump: Increased heartrate, sweating, sleepiness.
Usually it happens with too much fat or sugar. If you used regular salad
dressing on your salad that could do it. How was the chicken and turkey
cooked?

I really do not have an answer. BUt you just described what happened to me
last night. I ate 10 shrimp, no breading, and dpped in a margarine. Then
my baby chihuahua was attacked by a huge dog. I drove him 30 miles to the
vet, and after I had stopped crying and the vet gave me good news..no
broken bones no internal bleeding. I started to sweat from everywhere,
felt faint, dizzy, and a knot in my gut. Started gagging, but nothing was
in the stomach. Maybe it was not dumping, only stress from the drama?

yeah, I went thru this (still do occassionally) from about 5 weeks to 8
weeks. Am at 10 weeks now and am noticing less of this happening this week
and last. Most that I've talked to said it's normal and passes - gets
better with each week. I found a couple of foods that set well with
minimal dumping (tomato soup, spaghettios, baked beans, moz string cheese,
saltines with tuna) and lived on those. Not the best diet, but it was what
my tummy wanted so it's what it got. Hang tough, this too should pass

This happened to me with almost everything I ate until I was about 6 months
post op, and now at 11 months I still ocassionally do it. Also I may eat
something and be fine one time then eat it again later and it make me ill,
where I have to lie down. My surgeon says it's just my body's way of coping
