Question:
HOW LONG AFTER A POSITIVE (H PYLORI) TEST SHOULD YOU WAIT TO HAVE SURGERY

I had my pre-op lab testing on July 29, 2002. They called me two days
later saying they had found h pylori and said I would have to take an
Biaxin(an antibiotic) and Prilosec (an anti-ulcer drug) for 14 days before
my surgery. I asked would I have to be re-tested and they said no. I was
told that after treatment I would always test positive for h pylori, but at
trace levels, so there was no delay. I had my surgery on August 15, 2002
and have had no problems.
