Question:
I have BCBS of Minnesota PPO

My BMI is 52 (roughly 200 pounds overweight); I also have sleep apnea, migraines, and shortness of breath. I have a family history of obesity, diabetes, heart disease, stroke and cancer. Should I have any trouble getting approval? Thanks    — gary F. (posted on October 1, 2002)

I have the same insurance as you. It was no problem getting approved. My BMI was only 41 with just a couple co morbids. My doctor sent in all my paperwork and within 10 days I was told that all they (BCBS) needed for approval was a psych eval. Once I had the psych eval, I was approved as soon as they received it. You should have no problem.

I have the same insurance. After the paperwork was sent in, it took 3 days to get approved. BMI of 42 at the time, back and knee pain, and family history. I had NO PROBLEMS!
