The nutritionist told me that soy protein (formerly known as animal feed)
is highly overrated in the U.S. (and obviously marketed very well)and can
irritate the intestines. I do whey protein shakes, which work for me.
(great bioavailability). Hope this helps.

Whey comes from milk. You know, like little Miss Muffet and her curds &
whey (cottage cheese)? It doesn't have any lactose in it, though, so is
much better tolerated than milk products for some. I don't know for sure
that one is better than another unless you have a distal bypass, in which
case I have heard that whey is the way to go.<p>On the pickles, my dr
released me at 6 weeks to eat whatever I could tolerate. I don't know what
your dr recommends, but as long as you aren't eating them instead of
protein foods I don't think it would be a problem. If you can't tolerate
them, you'll know pretty quickly. One thing, bread & butter pickles
have some sugar in them. Not a lot, but some people have a low tolerance.
