Question:
Has anyone tried to get Medicare to pay for wls?
I have medicare and was wandering if anyone else has tried to get wls approved with them. The doctors office sent me a list of their requirements, but I was wanting to know others experiences with medicare. — Angie L. (posted on July 23, 2002)

him, and he is office did the rest. Hopefully it will be the same for you.
Good Luck!!

Hi Angie, A friend who works at Medicare said that the doctor must be
specific about co-morbidities. Medicare will cover the wls if there is
medical necessity.

Angie,
I am from Connecticut, since I am a single working Mom, I am eligible for
health insurance for my daughter and myself through the State's medicare
program (I do not receive welfare or food stamps or anything like
that)..Connecticut's medicare programs allows you to choose from 3 or 4
different insurance companies, I am so glad that I am a member of Healthnet
b/c as a result, I was approved with no problems..I am not sure how your
state works, but I am extremely greatful to the state of Connecticut for
giving me a chance to have my life back...
