I was under almost 4 hours. I also died for 34 seconds though so some of it
was trying to revive me and some of it was for the removal of cancer from
my womb. Most people go under for 1-2 hours.

I had an open RNY about 17 days ago. The surgery took 2.5 hours. I was in
recovery about 3 or 4 hours.
All went really well. No buyer's remorse here. I am thrilled I went
through it.

Like everyone said....It is different for everybody!! I was in surgery 2
hours, only in recovery about 50 mins. and then in my room. They said I
may have to go to ICU for the 1st day (at my hospital if you are over 300
lbs. they require you to go to ICU) I was 310, but I guess did so well in
the recovery room, they sent me to my room. Up and walking and going to the
bathroom within 2 hours of getting to my room.

I had an Open RNY by Ernest Rhenks, MD on 01/21/02. His "cutting
time" is 45 minutes. I was in and out of the OR in 1 hr and 15
minutes. Dr Rehnke is extremely technically proficient. He has a hand
picked OR team in each hospital he operates in that is very experieiced
with caring for morbidly obese patients.

I was in surgery for 4 1/2 hours and in recovery for 9 hours. However, I
had LAP RNY with a serious heart condition that took extra monitoring.
