You don't say how much or to the exclusion of eating, etc. While not
recommended by any doctor I know, a glass of red wine, or in my case, one
shot of vodka at about 4 weeks post op, did not harm me.

I am sure it will not kill her unless she Binges, but I would think that
would be hard with a new pouch, and suger making her feel sick. I drink now
at 6 weeks out probably one night a week, but it is in moderation as I
cannot handle the bubbles in beer well. I have lost 106 pounds in 6 months,
so I do not beleive this is too much of a hinderence to Weight loss, AS
LONG AS IT IS IN MODERATION.

What's her secret? At two weeks post op, I didn't want to drink water, let
alone drink alcohol or even function socially! I was bed-bound!

Actually, I was also drinking some alcohol at two weeks post op, and this
was with my surgeon's "okay". Now I am 7 weeks post op and drink
a few cocktails per week, mainly on weekends. I have lost my taste for
wine-strange- but I enjoy beer and champagne and vodka drinks. The bubbly
drinks do not bother me in the least. I believe that if I had to live like
a monk, meaning NO social drinking whatsoever, THAT is what would
"kill" me- not the alcohol itself!

Gosh how can they even think about drinking. At that stage I was still
trying to sip weak tea or water, and still running for the bathroom if I
drank ANYTHING even just a little too fast... The thought sends cold chills
up my back. My dr would have rung my neck if I would have told him that I
was drinking at 2 weeks post op. BIG RISK TO TAKE AFTER COMING THIS FAR
WITH SUCH A DRASTIC SURGERY...a risk that I will never be willing to
take...
