Great West One Health Plan PPO approved my DS with Dr. Rabkin with no
problems at all! They were great, very fast and no problems at all with the
process. They did require a psych evaluation (not a problem, since my
surgeon also required it), and they accepted Dr. Rabkin's request for
authorization which outlined my stats and co-morbid conditions with no
problems at all. Good luck to you! Hope everything goes smoothly.

I currently have GenAm/GreatWest PPO and they denied me after my first
letter stating a lack of underlying medical complications/disease. I'm
200lbs overweight and have many co-morbs. So far they are asking for a
fight so I wish you good luck. I've heard different things about this
company and it seems to vary state to state. I'm in Illinois so hope this
helps!

Hi there!!!
I have Great-West "One Health Plan" PPO out of New Jersey.
I am currently in the appeal process with them. They denied me for my age
(23) and they want 4 years of medically supervised diet with "charts
and tables". They added these stipulations after I had inquired about
the approval guidlines. I really guess it luck of the draw with these
people-you get diffrent answers everytime. My BMI is 59.9,
and I have a few co-morbidies ( and being only 23, these will become worst
with age ). What I would do is give them a call, and ask them what is the
criteria to meet, get that persons name, and have them fax that to you
AFTER they tell you. That way, when do see a surgeon, that might help you
along with the approval process. GOOD LUCK!!! :-)
