Question:
Too much acidity?

Anyone know what to do about this? I elimated drinking orange juice in the morning.I can't think of anything else. I don't drink cranberry juice or anything like that. Please help! Also, does anyone know if this can indicate any kind of vitamin deficiency as well? Thanks!    — Melissa B. (posted on January 2, 2002)

I'm not quite sure what you mean by acidity. Is it the Ph of your urine being acidic, or are you having some sort of acid reflux?

My wedding ring has started turning my finger green, and I was told this is due to having too much acidity in my body. Don't know how to get rid of it! (I am the poster of the question).

OIC, I'm not sure what to do about that. When we were kids we would take gold rings and rub them on our faces and it would leave greenish/black marks. Someone told me then that it was high iron, but I could be way off the mark here. Anyway, let me know what you find out, that is interesting.

Maybe this is a result of the ketosis? I don't know but I have always had a problem with 10K gold turning my skin black. I have never had any vitamin deficiencies turn up on bloodwork. My bet would be the change in your body from ketosis.

Hi. I've ALWAYS had this problem even before surgery. It has to do with the balance of harmones in your body. One month I can't wear ANY of my jewlery because it turns me green and the next month I have no problems. After WLS your hormones are going nuts to try and keep up with the changes in your body. There's nothing that you can do about it. Once your body gets a little bit used to what's going on the problem will take care of itself.

I had a problem with GERD pre op. Post op I still had a problem with my new stomach pumping out excess acid. I discovered that some surgeons have theier post op patients take pepcid or zantec 2x's a day for the first 6 months to relieve this problem. At 7 weeks post op I have been taking pepcid and it helps. I plan on watching this and if I need to go to my GI doctor I will.
