Question:
Has someone had their surgery performed by Dr Albert Gillman ?
I heard he only does Open RNY not LAP, Did you experience a lot of pain and a long recovery? And how do you rate your results? — [Anonymous] (posted on December 21, 2001)

I had surgery done with Dr. Albert Gilman on Nov 26, I think I made the
best choice for myself. I had consults with three other surgeons, all
though they were nice and answered my questions, but something seemed to be
missing. When I first met Dr.Gilman, my medicaid was out of network with
him being in Salibury N.C and me being in Charlotte, well he took the time
to come out into the lobby and comfort me, because I was upset, because I
couldn't be seen. He also give me names of other surgeons in the
surrounding areas and a booklet with all of the details of the surgery in
it. After much consideration Medicaid could not find anyone suitable to
handle me and my weight(over 400) so I was allowed to choose Dr.Gilman, he
was at the hospital everyday to make sure I was fine, he also listened to
what I had to say about the way I felt, he even listened to the little
complaints I had about the staff at the hospital and I did see a
difference.
Each visit at his office has been pleasant, the women in his office have
only the best hospitality in the world, especially Sherry. I have met a lot
of people who had surgery with the same surgeons that I didn't select and
they have experienced some problems, little ones, like not being put on a
diet plan or the surgeon not even recognizing them afterwards, well
Dr.Gilman likes to get to know his patients with more than one visit, so I
was not mistaken for someone else. Last but not least I didn't have to wait
the long period of time it has taken so many other people, because
Dr.Gilman believes in getting right down to business. If you go to the
surgeon database of this site you will find Dr.Gilman, that's how I find
him. Good Luck to you on your search for a surgeon, but know you Doctor
before you do anything.
