Question:
Does anyone have an idea of why your urine would turn green?
I am 3 1/2 weeks post-op and have noticed that my urine occasionally turns green. This also happened a couple of times in the hospital, but it didn't alarm me at the time. The only thing I can think of is possibly the dye I think they injected my stomach with during surgery, but shouldn't that be out of my system by now? If not, when. Please let me know if ANYONE has experienced this. Not sure if I need to schedule an earlier appt with the doctor. THanks — Kimberly D. (posted on November 17, 2001)

I don't know what kind of surgery you had, but I NEVER had that problem.
(?) If I were you, I would definitely call your doctor.

Green urine can be caused by several things. The most common causes are
dyes from vitamins and food colorings, dyes in medication, etc. Green urine
can also be caused by increased carotene in the diet, infection, bile
contents, jaundice, etc.

I have noticed that green veggies will do that to me. Especially asparagus.
After I've eaten asparagus, not only is my urine green I also can smell the
asparagus smell very strongly. A double check with your doctor is always a
good idea. -Kim

Green BM can be caused by iron and other vitamins, they are likely related
but checking with your surgeon is a good idea.

Hi, maybe vitamins are the culprits to your discolored urine. I had
Hepatitus A and my urine was dark green/brown. Something to keep check on.
