All I can remember is they put me under at about 12:30 p.m. and I was awake at around 5:45 p.m. and in my room. They got me up walking around 10 p.m.....they did not push the walking at first with me because of congestive heart failure (no my heart did not fail) it's just that I filled up withliquids and could not breathe very well...but by day 3 I was doing 10 to 20 laps (wanted to make up for being stuck in bed.) Good LUck, Karan

I had Open RNY and my surgery was approx 2 to 2 1/2 hours. I remember waking up in the recovery room and trying to sit up looking for my husband. My hubby said he couldn't believe it when he saw me trying to sit up (I was feeling NO pain at this point)! Later on when they got me into my room, noone pushed me to get up and walk, though they would mention it from time to time during my stay.

I had the lap DS. They put me to sleep around 8:00 a.m. I woke up in recovery at about 10:30. I dozed in and out while in recovery until about 3:00, when they moved me to my room. I was up and walking at 5:00 p.m., and then every other hour after that. It seems like I never slept for the rest of the hospital stay (I hate being in the hospital)! -Kate-

I was put under at 9am and in recovery until 4pm. Then sent to my room. They had put the leg pumps on my legs and didn't take them off until the next morning so I didn't even try to walk until then. I was so sick from the anesthesia that there was no way I was walking until Thursday late morning.

They put leg pumps on you to keep the blood flowing so you won't get clots. I didn't go home with a drain. They took it out 3 days after surgery (I was in the hospital 4 days). I went into surgery at 10:15 am and saw my husband aout 2 or 3 pm I was still woozy from the anastetic. My husband laughs still at me today because he said "there's my beautiful wife" and he said that I shot him a look that could kill. Of course, I don't remember that. Now he says things that I was supposed to have said or done and I don't believe him.
