G-tube is an "abbreviation" for gastrostomy tube. This is a tube
that is inserted through the wall of the abdomen and into the stomach for
either feeding or drainage purposes. Whether your WLS involves having a
G-tube will depend on the type of procedure and the surgeon. It is rarely,
if ever, a feature of the laparascopic RNY. For those patients who do
require it, it is temporary and not painful to remove.
