Question:
Has anyone experienced extreme hair loss after surgery?

Yep!!! Sure did... I had very thick hair to begin with thank goodness.. because I lost better than 1/2 of it.. The fallout started at about third month then rained until I got my hair cut and layered in the 5th month .. I'm 6 months post-op and just now and it has pretty much stopped.. I took GNC UlraHair and Biotin and few others..I really don't think any of those helped to be honest..I think once my body figured out it was not gonna starve on 800 calories it quit depriving my hair of protein and other nutrients..

I have experienced extreme hair loss. It really depressed me for awhile, but my hair is not shedding nearly as bad as it used to. My surgeon informed me in advance that I would probably experience some shedding, but I thought (no this will not happen to me). Yes, it did. I am 7 months post op and have lost 80lbs. I am happy because of my weight loss, but I had to get my hair cut drastically because of the shedding.

My hair loss was due to lack of Zinc, when my zinc counts were low, and that goes in cycles, of about every 4 to 6 months, then I loose tons of hair, but, it comes back and even thicker. That is what my surgon told me anyway, and alot of the people in our group had the same problem. Linda
