I had a Lap proximal RNY 10/99. I can tell you that at first I couldn't
tell if I was hungry or full. I would stop eating when I felt any change
in sensation and that usually corresponded to about 2 oz of food. When you
are still on the liguids, yes it will pass through much more quickly, but
if you push too much too fast you just might find it wanting to come back
up. I still have to be careful when I'm drinking.

Christine, I agree with Jilda. I also had LAP RNY (9/99) and at first I
couldn't feel much from liquids. I ate very small amounts (up to 2 oz) but
every hour or two. I also ate everything very slowly. Luckily, I have
never vomited so I'm not sure what it feels like just before. Now on solid
foods, I feel a tightness in my chest when I am getting full. Good luck.

I believe yours may be a common question. My neighbor had her surgery in
February (before mine) and was having the same complaint. However, when I
had surgery, I could tell a "fullness" was taking place but then
again, I was eating diet puddings and yogurt on the "liquid"
diet. After a couple of weeks, it was REALLY apparent when I was full. I'm
less than 3 weeks out now, and when I'm full I feel an "ugh!"
feeling. My neighbor describes her fullness as an "OUCH" feeling
(but I interpret that as her eating a little more than I do to feel this
way). I know that sounded corny, but maybe it was descriptive anyway! Hope
this helps.
