Hi Crystal! A lot of us are having WLS in our 20s. I'm 23 and had Lap RNY
on 2/15/05. So far I'm down 90lbs! Check out our forum for WLS in your 20's
on here:

Good luck to you!

It is great that you are looking trying to get more info regarding your age
and the surgery. there are many who have had the surgery that have been
younger than you. The Discovery Health channel just aired a special about a
17 year old boy who had wls. I have also had a friend who had hers done at
the age of 18. Good luck to you on you journey.

YES, there are lots of us youngsters out there that are having this done! I
was only 24 when I had my surgery in January. Why not get this out of the
way while we are young so that once we get older we are more healthy. If
you have any questions please feel free to e-mail me. Good Luck and Good
for you for trying to better your life.

Hi! I'm 28 and had Lap RNY 8 days ago. I say go for it. I just wish I had
it done a couple of years ago. I actually started this journey April of
last year weighing 240. I ended up moving and had to restart all over
again this year. I'm sure glad I did. I'm only 8 days out but I feel
great. I ended up with an infection from the I.V. given to me at the
hospital, but it hurts more than the surgery ever did. This year I started
at 261 and gained 8 pounds before sugery bringing me to an all time high of
269. My doc actually postponed surgery date of 7/15/05 because of it. I
then lost 10 pounds in thirteen days to have the surgery 1 1/2 weeks later.
Surgery was 7/27/05 and I'm already 251, down another 8 pounds since
surgery. That's a total of 18 pounds lost. Good luck to you!

HI! I had my surgery done when i was 25. Nov 2002. Best thing i've ever
done! I'm 28 now and I am SO glad i didn't wait any longer! I am holding
steady at about 155 or so (i give myself a 10 pound leeway up or down but
usually don't move around all that much scale wise, I haven't gotten over
164 in the 2.5 years). I am living life and loving it. If i don't tell
people I've had it no one knows. I lead a "normal" life. Never
once does the thought "i can't do that" or "i won't have the
energy to do that" enters my mind. If you can, take advantage of it
and get it done now! It will be worth it! I am currently working on the
"skin situation" and hopefully that will be cleared up by the end
of the year. If you have any questions give me a shout. [email protected]
