Question:
I am four months post TT and still having lots of swelling.
If I start exercising, doing ab work, weight training, etc, will this make the swelling worse? It is definitely worse in the upper abd area later in the day. Have to wear the binder still. — betseylovelace (posted on May 25, 2005)

I am 8 months post op tt, and I get alot of fluid retention, and swelling
too. alot of times diabetics have a harder time with the swelling than
others. I can feel mine hasnt reattached on the left side as it moves
internaly, and causes discomfort. I visited my ps and she is subbmitting
to my insurance co for a revison. Actually 4 months is still normal for
swelling give it until you reach the 6 month mark, and then see your ps.

I am 9 months post op. I am too having alot of pain still. Nobody really
knows why I still am haiving alot of problems . Another thing I am having
problems with my bowels. Ever since my TT I had been having problems with
them, my reg. doctor tells me it from all the scare tiss. that casuing me
these problems. Three months after my TT I had to have two explortory
surgeies to see why I was having so much problems, and they found out that
my bowels so twisted and tangled that they had too take my intestines out
and untangled them plus clean me out from scare tiss, they had to do this
twice. And since then I am still surffering with pain everyday, and I am
getting tired of it. From all that I had went through I kid of regret
having the TT done , but I had to that was the only way to get rid of the
excess skin. Just last month I also found out that I have a hernia in back,
that was also from my TT because I was cut all the way around. Well I
better go. I hope you recover more quickly then me.

For the most acurate answer to your question perhaps it is time to have a
follow up visit your surgeon and pose these questions to him. That way you
will get to find out exactly what he expects you to do

Hi Betsey. The swelling is expected and not unusual. I keep patients in
some form of garment or compression wear. Watch for activities (esp
prolonged sitting) that worsens your swelling. I beleive so strongly in
lymphatic massage that I have treatments as part of the surgery and
followup process. Consider fing a good therapist with surgical patient
experience !
